This is kind of a rarity. I’m reviewing this book about seven years after having read it. Why? Because I think it’s one of the greatest horror novels ever, and I realized I never left a formal review to this effect.

The plot centers around a group of “at-risk” youth visiting an island as part of a rehabilitation effort. It’s not a bad idea, as some time in nature may force the kids to learn about teamwork and self-reliance.

Unfortunately, the island has cannibals (among other problems).

The book is full of balls-to-the-wall gore and violence, with some very clever plot twists. Many of the scenes are still imprinted on my brain.

This was a novel I would anticipate reading when I woke up.

I dunno why it has such a terrible title.

I read another horror novel by Konrath (he mostly does cop thrillers) and it was good, but nowhere near as good as “Trapped.” Having said that, I have a few of his other horror works on my Kindle and should crack one open soon.
